An even game was expected in this confrontation between two sides near he top of Division 1 in The Miller Homes Leagues. Vale again travelled with a very young side and were up against a strong physical Leigh side.

Vale had a front row forward problem but wanted to resist starting the game with an uncontested situation having experienced this sometime earlier in the season knowing this can have a marked effect on the game. The referee and Leigh were informed of the problem. Unfortunately the player concerned had to leave the field at half time and the game moved into uncontested. Not a satisfactory situation for ether side.

Vale played with a strong wind in the first half but were unable to get enough points on the board to be sure of a victory. From the second half KO Leigh began to play some pwerful rugby and whilst Vale kept them at bay with some strong, committed tackling inevitably the strength of the Leigh side told. Vale going down 27 points to 8 points.

Both sides were keeping their eye on results coming in from other games in the Clubhouse.
