Miller Homes Leagues Division 1, 29th September 2007Wirral 2nds 28 v 39 Vale of Lune 2nds
Vale stuck in trafficReg Robinson Secretary of the Leagues and myself visited the Wirral Club last Saturday. After travelling through massive traffic jams both on the M6 and the A6 we arrived at Wirrals ground for a 3.30 KO. Continuous communications between both the players, who were in separate cars some on the A6 and some on the M6, and Wirral, helped to keep everyone informed of the situation. Vale had little time to prepare and soon were trailing Wirral in the early stages of the game. Wirral had the bigger pack and were dominating Vale up front. As the game wore on Vale began to take command and with some neat breaks from their scrum half including possibly the try of the season, they ran out winners. The Wirral full back was a constant worry to Vale with some scintilating breaks. The game finishing 39 to 28 to Vale. Wirral were in with a chance right to the end and once again an exciting game was witnessed. It was our first visit to the Wirral Club. The pitch was in perfect condition, and the Club itself is in beautiful surroundings, a pleasure to visit. Thanks to Wirral for their hospitality and looking at their side there is no doubt they will move away from their current lowly position in the League. Sorry no pictures this week. Forgot to take my camera, of course I was going to provide pictures for the new Grassroots Web Site. Fred Swarbrick. |
