Vale of Lune 4ths 3 v 31 Fylde 3ds

pic1/jpg
After hurried arrangements and discussions on Friday evening between Patrick Townsend and Fred Swarbrick, it was agreed that mutual inspections of grounds would take place Saturday a.m.

Vales pitch was deemed to be playable, in fact they had 3 pitches that were playable, and on consultation Fyldes were noted as not playable, Fylde agreed to travel to Vale as their Home Fixture.

Fylde had travelled to Vale in the Cup Competition some weeks earlier and had been met with the most horrendous conditions, Saturdays were a massive improvement.

Fylde are flying high at the top of Div 3 North, ( it could well be they do the double this season ) and Vale knew they were going to be in for a tough encounter. This proved to be the case and it wasn't long before Fylde broke through the Vales defence. Their fly half as in the previous game was directing operations expertly and gradually Fylde took a firm grip on the game.

To their credit Vale never gave up and Paul Antcliffe their Skipper inspired his players to keep going throughout the match, on Vales part they felt they had provided a tremendous performance, Fylde clearly showed why they continue in top place in this League

Thanks to Fylde for travelling in a last minute effort to get the game played. They, still in the Cup really don't need any more re-arrangements.

Hope the bracketed comments above don't prove to be the " kiss of death "

Fred Swarbrick.
