Park 2's travelled to Glossop with a much Stronger squad for this cup match than earlier in the season when they were comprehensively beaten by 50 points by Glossop.
The weather was as expected cold, Windy , and Wet and the pitch was a bit of quagmire.
Anyway park set about Glossop from the off with forwards making good yards and hard running from Centre phoenix, It was'nt long before a break from Murdin who then fed phoenix to go over in the corner to give park a 5-0 lead, park had their tails up and another period of preassure led to a penalty but unfortunately Annalls could not convert. Glossop gradually clawed there way back into the game and had some spells of preassure, this was mainly due to the referee's inaptitude and the fact he did not understand the ELV's let alone, the rest of the rule book!!
Glossop went over twice in the first half. and at half time led 12-5
The second half was battle with both teams having good chances and ball, it was Glossop who scored first with a quick line out, This was amazing considering the line had already been formed by by half the pack off both sides but yet again the ref let it stand.
~Park tried to get back into with great runs by Jones and Green but to no avail park were now playing catch up rugby and were struggling.
The Final score came From Glossop as the stand-off ran behind the inside centre in the biggest crossing incident since Zebrugger!! Park stopped expecting a whistle but to no avail ( play to the whistle boys) as the stand-off ran in under the sticks and converted himself, leaving the final score at 24-5
There were some lessons to be learned for the park boys but the effort put in allround was good and they never gave up! Even in the face of one of the worst refering displays since Graham poll in the Croatia v's Australia match in the last world cup!!!
