The Appeals Panel of the Millers Homes Leagues met with officials of the Lymm Club on Thursday 4th March to hear Lymm’s appeal at the Miller Homes League Rules Committee sanction against Lymm for breaching Rule 13 of the League rules in their game against Northwich 2nd XV on Saturday 30th January.
After a lengthy discussion on the series of events leading up to the game in question, Lymm admitted that given the apparent strength of their opponents, they took an opportunity to "strengthen" their side prior to the match with the inclusion of two players who would normally be considered regular 1st XV players. The panel accepted that Lymm were not trying to gain an advantage in doing so, merely an attempt to "level the playing field" which it was considered to be poor judgement.
Therefore the Appeal Panel have issue the following findings:-
The Appeal Panel finds that Lymm 3rd XV did breach Rule 13 of the Miller Homes Leagues Rules in their game against Northwich 2nd XV on Saturday 30th January, 2010. The Appeal Panel agrees that the Rules Committee decision to deduct 3 points from Lymm 3rd XV was a fair and just decision and in line with the Rules of the Miller Homes Leagues and is the minimum penalty that could be issued.
Lymm do have the right to take their appeal to the RFU.
