North West Intermediate Rugby Union Leagues - Discussion

Lancashire pulling out of RFU leagues

Anything to do with the leagues

Lancashire pulling out of RFU leagues

Postby ctrainor » Thu May 03, 2018 2:50 pm

Just wondering guys if any of you think this will have a knock on effect on the intermediate leagues?
Seems a bit short sighted that some level 7 clubs have created their own structure an pulled out of the RFU league set up.
any thoughts?

These are the clubs which show on the Lancashire Twitter:-

The number after the teams is the current RFU level.

Lancashire Premier (13 teams)
Aldwinians 7
Didsbury Toc H 8
Heaton Moor 8
Littleborough 7
Liverpool Collegiate 7
Liverpool SH. 7
Oldham 7
Trafford MV 7
Tyldesley 7
West Park SH 7
Wigan 8
Widnes 7
Eccles 8

Lancs Division 1 (11 teams)
Ashton U Lyne 9
Birchfield 8
Burnley 9
Bury 9
Clitheroe 9
Eagle 9
Garstang ? 8
North Manchester 9
Manchester Medics 8
Ormskirk 9
Thornton Cleveleys (NOWIRUL Division 2 North).

I suspect that the 1st team fixtures will be a bit delayed this coming season, meaning that the NOWIRUL fixtures will be out later than usual. Usually about a week after all the 1st team fixtures are published.

Interesting proposed setup for the teams left in the RFU Leagues at level 7. Here is a Google Map of the proposed teams at Level 7.:-

Here are the distances obtained with Google Maps Distance Tool:-

This the tool used to calculate the distances:-

Can also be used as a sort of distance ready reckoner.

Going to be a long an interesting AGM

But on a note of warning to whoever decides what rule changes are made etc choose wisely as social rugby is massively suffering in these league setups and will be forced elsewhere before too long
