Back to winning ways.
Sandbach 2s 'up & down' season continued with another 60+ point home victory, this time Waterloo were on the receiving end of a solid team performance from Sandbach 2nds.
Sandbach captain Faulkner really dug deep to get a team out on Saturday bringing 2 players out of retirement; Chris Busby & Dave (Running) Gibson. Sandbach fielded a squad of 17, 12 of which were forwards! Skipper Faulkner stepped in to play wing and Chris Busby was nominated to play Scrum half. (At this point Pembo threw all of his toys out of the pram!) Fast Freddy was thankfully back from uni and slotted in at fullback.
Sandbach started brightly with Freddie Oakey going almost the full length of the pitch to score under the posts. Huss and Faulkner both went over shortly afterwards. Both tries came from excellent team play. John Pemberton also got one in the first half. Buzza said 'Pembo got one in the first half after the 10 knocked on my pass to Billy Rees. Billy took a quick tap, WE pushed him over and Pembo took the score, Pembo said 'you just never want to acknowledge my tries do you?'
Waterloo made a late comeback in the first half with 3 breakaway tries. Sandbach denied Waterloo and further scores and managed to add a further 6 tries to there own total, 1 more each for Oakey, Faulkner & Huss. Busby & Gibson also marked there return with a try each late on in the 2nd half. Oakeys second was a cleverly worked solo try where he threw 2 VERY outrageous dummies. Faulkner coolly finished off an 8-9-14 move from the halfway line, Andy Rollings eat you’re heart out 'Huss's second came from a mistake in the midfield by Waterloo. Gibby 'gassed' his opposite man to score in corner while Chris Busby (Well deserved as he did a sterling job out of position at scrumhalf) and Neil Dey shared a push over try each.
Thanks to every single one of the lads that turned out on Saturday. Special thanks must go to Wardle, Busby and Gibson who agreed to play late on Friday night. Thanks guys and make sure you’re available more often.
MOM was shared between Busby & Oakey. Faulkner and Escourt weren't too far behind either. Hard to mention everyone as we played very well as a team and the spirit from last season seems to be coming back. Maybe due to the return of the old boys Buzza and Wyatt :D
