After a pitch inspection at Vale early Saturday morning it was agreed the Vale pitch would be playable. In fact all Vales pitches were deemed playable. James Fergusson was informed of this at 9.30a.m. He was pleased that at least they had the possibility of playing one game.
Vale were prepared for the game and as usual in Vale/ Lymm games they were expecting a highly competitive game. Lymm were anxious to get out of the lower reaches of the League and Vale were looking to consolidate their position near the top of the League.
Conditions meant we would probably witness a tight forward battle and this proved to be the case. Mistakes were made frequently and the Referee worked hard to try and keep the game flowing to some degree. Not easy in such a competitive encounter and considering the lack of grip underfoot.
Lymm by half-time had gained a comfortable lead and appeared to be taking the game away from Vale. Early second half Vale scored, but a reply from Lymm again increased the gap. A late score brought Vale again in touch but too late to overhaul Lymms commendable efforts.
Both sides were grateful of the game considering the lack of Rugby played throughout the Leagues after a disastrous week of horrendous weather
