Rules of the North West Leagues.

“””Ladies/Gentlemen ,

Throughout the history of our Leagues we have had issues regarding Rule 13. The object of Rule 13 is to reduce the opportunity for sides to strengthen their lower sides in the event of their most senior side not having a fixture commitment. In all cases the most senior side must play at the expense of a Clubs lower sides.

The object of the Rule, is to prevent team loading, we feel this must be a correct instruction. Clearly this can cause an adverse problem because a Club may not have players of sufficient quality to take on what inevitably would be a stronger opposition in a League above. But the main object of the Rule must remain to prevent team loading. In the case of a Club not having players of sufficient ability they must concede.

We have reacted to this Rule strictly over the years of the Leagues.

We understand there might be some concern from particular Clubs regarding the imposition of this Rule. Clearly we can’t make changes at this stage but could we ask for ideas in a consultative way, as to how we might modify this Rule if Clubs feel this is necessary. It will then allow us to discuss these concerns at our AGM where all our Rules are added to, or amended by the Clubs themselves. “””
